The role of the UK Joint Secretary is a demanding but rewarding role offering an exciting opportunity to play a critical part in bringing an end to paramilitary activity in Northern Ireland, by ensuring the effective working of the IRC.
With the Irish Secretary, you will lead the Secretariat and set objectives to further the Commission’s work. You will be responsible for supporting the Commission members with policy, planning the Commission’s work and fulfilling legislative obligations (including consulting, reporting and recommending), as well as supporting day to day operations. You will be the designated Accounting Officer for the UK Secretariat.
Responsibilities
Providing advice to the commissioners on the procedures set out in legislation and statutory guidance
Providing advice on the wide range of issues that may impact on the work of the Commission including engagement with the community and the different law enforcement bodies tasked with ending paramilitarism
Co-ordinate and manage drafting of the Commission’s reports on progress towards ending paramilitary activity and on implementation of measures to address it and oversee arrangements for publishing the report.
