Description of the Unit or Project
Greater Manchester Menta Health Foundations Trust’s (GMMH) Mental Health Nursing Research Unit (MHNRU) and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Research Unit (EDI-RU) have been awarded funding from the NIHR’s Health and Social Care Delivery programme to deliver a 30-month project that explores the use of ‘patient-led appointment scheduling’ (PLAS) for people accessing support from NHS Talking Therapies at Step 2 (low-intensity CBT interventions). The project consists of a clinical trial with nested qualitative study. It aims to determine the feasibility of conducting a larger evaluation trial of PLAS to establish the effectiveness of the approach in improving access for patients from marginalised communities and overall patient satisfaction.
