Senior Engineer (Consultancy)
In this exciting role you will help in shaping and delivering Coventry’s Drainage and Flood Risk consultancy service to support our ambition to be a top ten city where everybody can share in the benefits of sustainable growth.
The successful candidate will support the Flood Risk Manager in the following key areas; deal with day-to-day management of the drainage and flood risk engineering consultancy service for greenfield and brownfield development projects. Aligned to our vision, promote and lead on project design solutions, liaise with clients and stakeholders to deliver this service.
This post provides an exciting and sustainable career opportunity to work within and develop the consultancy and be part of a forward-thinking Flood Risk Management and Drainage team, for which Coventry is recognised.
Key to this role will be knowledge of design and technical reporting at all stages of projects from outline planning and feasibility studies through to the production of detailed design drawings for procurement and construction.
You will design for surface water and foul drainage and undertake hydraulic modelling for pipe and watercourse systems using industry standard software. You will develop outline and detailed drainage and flood mitigation projects. Key is an ability to work successfully with key partners and stakeholders to deliver sustainable development objectives.

Senior Development Management Engineer
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will support the Flood Risk Manager in the following key areas; deal with day-to-day review and regulation of planning applications to be compliant with national and local standards together with policy. Aligned to our vision, the successful applicant will promote and deliver sustainable development across Coventry.

Key to this role will be a knowledge of design standards to conduct technical reviews of new residential and commercial development projects at all stages of planning, regulation, construction, and adoption.
A working knowledge of relevant planning and technical guidance such as the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), CIRIA SuDS Design Manual, Sewer Sector Guidance is essential.
You will provide clear guidance to developers to deliver compliant and sustainable development, with guidance on design for flood resilience, the review flood risk assessments, surface water drainage systems, SUDS integrating nature-based solutions and where necessary review outcomes of hydraulic modelling of watercourse.
Key is also an ability to work successfully with key partners, together with internal and external stakeholders to deliver sustainable development.
