Job Role: Buyer
Location: South Yorkshire
Salary: £50,000/£55,000 + Package
Our client has a great opportunity for a Buyer to join their team at their South Yorkshire office. As a Buyer, you will ensure the efficient running of the material purchasing function and liaise with other departments to ensure financial control of all materials & plant purchased for building operations throughout the Yorkshire & Northwest regions. This must be within full compliance of the Best Practice procedures and the Company's Health, Safety & Environmental Policies.
Responsibilities:
1. Proven length of experience working for a contractor in a buying role
2. A good understanding of building regulations and legal obligations
3. A good knowledge of construction methods and materials
4. Strong mathematical and IT ability. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
5. Ability to assess and analyse information
6. Good commercial sense
7. Good understanding of budget management
8. Negotiating and networking skills
9. Excellent communication skills
10. Able to work under pressure and accept criticism of work
11. Good team working skills
12. Accurate with an eye for detail
13. Willingness to go above and beyond to meet deadlines as and when the business requires it
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Degree in Construction or similar, or,
2. HNC / ONC in Construction or similar
3. Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, or working towards full membership
4. Working towards being a chartered member of the Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS)
5. Experience of COINS
