Main duties of the job
You will assist the ward manager with daily operational management.
The post holder will provide nursing leadership with extensive clinical skills within this area and assist with the development and maintenance of training plans for staff that facilitate the achievement of a high-quality effective nursing service. The responsibilities are in a mixed speciality environment where the key relationships are wide-ranging and include both clinical and administrative disciplines.
The post holder will be expected to work in a consistent and cohesive manner, working to the same patient-focused agenda.
Job responsibilities
* Able to effectively co-ordinate a shift on the ward whilst maintaining relationships with the MDT.
* Able to manage the ward on a shift basis.
* Ability to deputise for the ward manager in their absence and attend relevant meetings when asked/necessary.
* Demonstrate skills to manage and plan care for a group of patients with acute needs.
* Knowledge and experience in a pre-operative clinic environment.
* Work with PALS and ensure that concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
Person Specification
Essential
* Nursing Registration.
* Surgical ward experience.
* Knowledge of Trust's IT Clinical System.
* Cannulation, Venepuncture, Blood Administration, NGT Insertion.
Desirable
* Leadership Course.
* Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor.
* Post registration development.
* ILS.
* Knowledge and Experience in Pre-assessment.
