Hours: Monday to Friday 8am-4.30pm
This is a key role required to ensure that all wide span building, ranges and explosive stores remain compliant for the end user. It is a role that requires the individual to be proactive and organised in order to ensure that the buildings remain compliant and provide DIO and the end user with detailed information regarding building condition and remedial measures required.
Reporting to the Principal Compliance Manager, this role will see you carry out building inspections for Range structures, wide span buildings including WW2 hangars, and explosive storage buildings, carry out Adhoc building inspections and provide technical advice for all types of building to support site teams and DIO, carry out inspection of lowerable masts & towers if required, and provide professional and technical support and advice to VIVO site team, Supply Chain, DIO and end users.
You will also produce high quality reports in a timely manner with cost effective and accurate remedial solutions and measures, produce high quality Risk Assessments and Method Statements, record all tasks against the appropriate assets in the Maximo system and ensure all documentation relating to jobs is completed, recorded and distributed in a timely manner, and identify opportunities on establishments that will support the MoD’s carbon reduction targets.
This role will require you to liaise closely with other Building Surveyors and the Principal Compliance Manager and to take ownership of personal training plans, familiarisation and knowledge across all sites in the region, to maintain accurate records within personal log book for site attendance and activities undertaken, manage cost and stakeholder expectation through excellent communication and sound commercial decisions to ensure value for money, and work with all stakeholders to support economic remedial and technical solutions.
What You Need To Do The Job
First and foremost, you should be an experienced Building Surveyor with practical experience of building surveying and reporting for large span industrial type buildings/hangars and reinforced concrete and buried structures.
You should have the ability to evaluate building/structure condition and provide remedial measures, produce accurate high quality reports and to work independently.
It is important that you make sound and timely decisions using technical knowledge and practical experience, have exceptional communication skills, are able to build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels and are able to influence and negotiate effective delivery whilst maintaining high standards for quality and achievement.
This role will require you to travel extensively throughout the South East region and as such candidates must be willing and able to do so, and hold a full UK driving licence.
You will be required to pass SC Clearance as a condition of employment.
