Position: Sheetmetal Fabricator / Welder Supervisor
The company is a small specialised engineering company that is looking to expand their Engineering and manufacturing team. They are seeking to strengthen the team with an experienced Sheet metal fabricator welder and team Supervisor.
This role reports into the Works Manager and is to supervise the fabrication and welding team. We are ideally looking for a hands-on welder/fabricator that is looking for the opportunity to move into a supervisor's role. Roughly 20% of your time will be looking after the team and ensuring that they have all they need to produce high quality, cost-effective fabrications in support of the business, for new and used machinery.
The company has a 39hrs/week schedule - Mon - Thurs 07:00 - 16:00 & Fri 07:00 - 12:00. The hourly rate is circa £22.00, depending upon skills and experience. All our welders are coded, and the same requirement applies for anyone new; we would put them through for coding when we next requalify our team.
The Role:
1. You will be supervising the team and supporting with the day-to-day activities.
2. You will be working from drawings and sketches as applicable.
3. Fabrication of stainless and mild steel sheet and sections.
4. Welding using MIG, TIG, and Manual Metal Arc.
5. Manual cutting with Plasma and Flame cut methods.
6. Weld to insurance standards (BS5500/ BS EN 286); competence measured by in-house testing (Coded Welders only).
7. Translate drawn requirements into manufactured components in the most efficient manner.
8. Work to written manufacturing instructions.
9. Maintain a clean and orderly workplace environment compatible with an open workshop facility.
10. Use of appropriate hand-held and powered tools and equipment as applicable in the execution of the tasks set.
11. Welding and fabrication skills such as cutting, marking out, squaring off, bending, etc.
12. Proficient in using guillotine, rolls, brake press, and hand tools as necessary.
