Leaving Care Personal Advisor
Duration: Initially 3 months
Hours: 37 hours per week
Rate: £28 umbrella an hour (£22 PAYE an hour)
Working arrangement: Hybrid working, 3 days a week in the office
The London Borough of Merton is looking for a Leaving Care Personal Advisor to join their Preparing for Adulthood plus team.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide practical help and direct support to young people and young adults using the service from age 16 who are in care, have recently left care, or are unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, to become independent and inspire them to set ambitious goals for themselves.
2. Manage a caseload involving the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of appropriate action.
3. Use agreed assessment frameworks in collaboration with individuals to robustly assess their needs and develop corresponding tailored intervention Pathway Plans, setting out clear goals and who is going to provide assistance.
4. Identify accommodation needs and assist young people in securing appropriate accommodation options.
5. Proactively work as an advocate for young people, navigating complex and contentious situations while securing the collaboration of other agencies and individuals.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience as a leaving care personal advisor or similar.
2. Relevant qualification in Connexions, Youth Work, Careers, Social Services, Teaching, Health, Youth Offending/Probation Services.
3. Experience working with young people, including those at risk in a variety of settings.
