We are seeking a passionate and dynamic English Teacher to join our dedicated team across Stevenage. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is enthusiastic about inspiring students and promoting a love for literature and language.
Job Description:
As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching English across a variety of year groups. You will deliver engaging lessons that develop students' literacy skills, foster critical thinking, and build their confidence in both written and spoken English. You will also play a key role in promoting a love of reading and writing, helping students achieve their full potential in both GCSE and A-Level English courses.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that meet the needs of all students.
2. Teach English Language and English Literature to students of various abilities.
3. Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and support to help them achieve their goals.
4. Develop differentiated resources to meet the individual needs of students.
5. Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment, ensuring all students are encouraged to succeed.
6. Encourage students to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and a passion for reading and writing.
7. Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the development of the English department and whole-school initiatives.
8. Participate in meetings, CPD (Continued Professional Development), and school events as required.
Skills and Experience:
1. A strong passion for English and the ability to inspire students in the subject.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Proven ability to engage and motivate students of various ages and abilities.
4. Strong classroom management skills.
5. Knowledge of curriculum requirements and assessment procedures.
6. Ability to differentiate lessons to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
7. A positive and proactive attitude, with a genuine commitment to the success of students.
Qualifications:
1. A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
2. A degree in English, English Literature, or a related subject.
3. Experience teaching English at secondary level is desirable but not essential.
4. An understanding of GCSE and A-Level English curricula is beneficial.
