Westhoughton High School is looking for a new Business Manager to lead the business planning and operations functions of a large secondary school with big ambitions. The role in essence is the non-teaching Deputy Headteacher; being the advocate for all school support teams. You will join the Headteacher and two teaching deputies to form The Headship Team you’ll drive the future of our school, you’ll work hard, but collaboratively, and we promise you, you’ll laugh, you’ll enjoy your job.
This is an exciting opportunity, and we are looking for an individual with strong operational management skills to play a leading role in our future success. The appointee will have a record of accomplishment of successfully leading, supporting, empowering and co-ordinating teams to deliver operational efficiency and effectiveness. We are not looking for an individual with a teaching background but an experience of working in schools would be a distinct advantage. We are looking to appoint an outstanding Business Manager who can share the school’s ambition and aspirations, and support the school in its future. This is a wonderful opportunity for a primary SBM who wants to take on a bigger challenge, and establishing secondary SBM or someone new to schools from elsewhere in the industry. Schools are complex organisations, but the satisfaction of supporting the school, deliver its best for our young people is the driving force behind our work.
The post-holder will be responsible for:
Providing high-quality leadership and management of the support teams functions
Ensuring all statutory, regulatory and government requirements (including reporting arrangements) are met
Overseeing Finance, Estates Management, Health and Safety, Governance and other school business
Developing opportunities and a positive impact on the wider education system
Providing efficient assistance to the Headteacher and the Governors, regarding operational management across the school.
