Our client, a prominent player in the Highways sector, is seeking a competent Quality Engineer to join their team for a high-profile project in Norwich. The project involves the construction of a new carriageway, structures, large earthworks, and drainage packages while ensuring minimal environmental impact and maintaining good relationships with local communities and stakeholders. This role is crucial in ensuring the scheme's timely, budget-compliant, and defect-free completion.
Purpose of the Role:
The Quality Engineer will assist the team in implementing quality control measures to ensure the project meets required standards and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality and Document Control:
Understand and implement Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies and Targets
Ensure compliance with Project Quality systems
Utilise the Project document management system
Enhance customer satisfaction by meeting their requirements
Promote a positive Quality culture within the project team, supply chain, and wider business
Review sub-contractor Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans
Attend Quality pre-start meetings with sub-contractors and suppliers
Ensure sub-contractors and suppliers are aware of their quality requirements
Assist with the collation of handover information
Manage NCRs, Defects, and ensure product quality on site
Monitor and report non-conformance and quality-related KPIs
Conduct audits and produce audit reports for on-site activities
Resolve technical issues and non-conformance through RFIs and TQs
Identify and communicate good practices and key risks
Work with Client representatives to review and approve on-site activities
Health & Safety and Environment:
Promote a safe working environment and ensure health and safety considerations are integrated into all tasks.
Business Management System (BMS):
Monitor, review, and update procedures as required
Manage the certification process
Support the improvement of procedures and forms
Champion the use of the business management system
Mentor team members on business management system areas
Liaise with Parent Organisations to ensure procedural alignment
Communication and Training:
Communicate audit outcomes and management system reviews internally
Promote customer focus through quality systems
Facilitate problem-solving and process clarifications
Job Requirements:
Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude
Working knowledge of Business Management Systems and contractual documentation
ISO 9001 Internal Auditor qualifications and relevant construction industry experience
Professional qualifications and/or extensive technical experience within Civil construction
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and MS Visio
Excellent report writing and spreadsheet skills
Full Driving Licence
