We have an exciting opportunity for a Support Worker to complete a specialist care team, working with a man with a spinal cord injury and brain injury who is living independently in the Derby area. The Role: Prompting with all aspects of personal care, including bowel and bladder care, washing and showering. Supporting and encouraging with activities such as the gymnasium, wheelchair rugby and paddle boarding. Providing support and assistance for social outings and appointments and assisting with all therapies, including hydrotherapy. Assisting with domestic tasks. Keeping a daily written record of work. About You: We are looking for candidates who are flexible, reliable, trustworthy, and enthusiastic with a good sense of humour. You should also be open minded and willing to learn new skills. You should have a basic education with good written and verbal communication skills. No specific qualifications are required but you must be able and willing to follow mandatory training and to learn specific skills to work effectively with client according to his care plan. You should have the ability to provide a high standard of therapeutic support with a caring and professional approach. Completion of the Care Certificate is an advantage. The client lives in his own home with his dog. A dog lover would be an advantage. You must have: A full clean driving licence is essential. Previous and current care experience. Shift Patterns: 24 hour day shift, 8am to 8pm, 8pm to 8am. The current team provide full day and night time support on a rota basis, including weekend and bank holiday working. This role is to cover for annual leave and sickness and will therefore be on an ad hoc basis as agreed with the team leader and case manager.
