Specialist Clinical Psychologist / Practitioner Psychologist
Derbyshire Community Health Services NHSFT
This is an exciting opportunity to play a central part in expanding our psychologically informed weight management service to incorporate more consultation and group offers to our client group. In addition to supporting our population with lifestyle approaches to weight loss, you would also be supporting others in the development of their psychological skills.
As a psychologically led service, we focus on lifestyle behaviour change, in addition to new digital and group offers to patients. We want to provide trauma-informed 1:1s for patients where appropriate. Playing a consultative role to other members of our multi-disciplinary team, you will need to take a positive approach to your work to engage with others.
A key part of the role is inputting one day into University Hospitals Derby where you will be involved with treating complex referrals and patients considering bariatric surgery.
You will be joining a supportive team. Hybrid and flexible working available.
(2024/25 pay award is due to be reflected in pay from October 2024, with any arrears due paid in November 2024)
Main duties of the job
Main aspects of the role will be:
1. 1-1 assessment, formulation, and intervention with individuals with obesity.
2. Co-production of group-based interventions for our Tier 3 service based on the current and emerging evidence base around psychological approaches.
3. Developing supervision skills when supporting our weight management advisors with their core weight loss messaging.
4. Contributing to the development of consultative/systemic approaches to support patients in their weight loss journeys, perhaps working with families and carers.
5. Maintaining high levels of professional behaviour in all aspects of your role and duties.
Your enthusiastic and creative approach to your work, along with a commitment to making Tier 3 services more accessible, will be more relevant perhaps than already having experience with obesity. You'll need to be familiar with health behaviour change models and be accustomed to or open to working with different care providers including public health services, acute hospital colleagues, and those working in associated eating disorder and mental health services.
