Job Advert: Part-Time SEMH Support Assistants (Strong Transferable Skills considered) Location: Lewes outskirts Position: Part-Time SEMH Teaching Assistant Hours: Part-Time (long-term) Driver Required: Yes Start Date: ASAP We are currently seeking dedicated and adaptable SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Support Assistants to join our team on a part-time and full-time long-term basis. The ideal candidates will have strong transferable skills, a passion for supporting students with SEMH needs, and the ability to make a positive impact in the classroom. A valid driver's license is required for this role due to the location. Key Responsibilities: Provide tailored support for students with SEMH needs, both academically and emotionally. Foster positive relationships with students, promoting emotional well-being and social development. Assist teachers in creating a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment. Support students in managing their behavior, helping to reduce anxiety and increase engagement. Work closely with the SENCO and other staff members to implement individual learning plans and behavior strategies. Encourage and support students to develop effective coping strategies and communication skills. Skills and Experience: Strong transferable skills in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable, but not essential. Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and different student needs. Calm, patient, and resilient approach when working with students facing emotional or behavioral challenges. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a team. A valid driver's license and access to a car.
