Job Title: Combat Systems Engineer

Salary: Up to £51,500 (dependent on skills and experience) – 12-month FTC
What you’ll be doing:
* Assisting the Technical Lead, and in some instances act as a Technical Lead, in the Physical integration of the new Combat Systems onto the River Class Destroyer
* Applies Systems Engineering and Lifecycle Management Processes to ensure design viability
* Supporting delivery of associated design artefacts to time, cost and quality. Ensuring at all times that design intent is maintained
* Interfaces with a variety of Internal and External stakeholders including suppliers, operations/production, detailed designers and the customer
* Support design change and design improvement from existing platform baselines to ensure the design intent of the platform is maintained
Your skills and experiences:
* A Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Combat Systems Physical Integration
* Maintain effective partnerships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including customers, and other internal technical teams
* Proficient in IT and MS Office tools i.e. Excel
* Experience of Physical integration of a Combat System in a Naval environment.
* Knowledge and experience of Auto CAD
Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.
The Combat Systems team:
The Canadian River Class Destroyer (RCD) is one of the Global Combat Ship (GCS) designs based on the UK Navy’s Type 26. The RCD is incorporating Combat Systems from around the world, including the US AEGIS system. As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to shape the design of this destroyer whilst developing and enhancing your skills and knowledge. The role involves displaying good influencing skills within a multi-disciplinary team environment and showing flexibility in the approach to required tasks, whilst maintaining key behaviours.
