Sheet Metal Field Service Engineer
Location: Nationwide (possibility of international work)
Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum – Depending on experience
Hours: Full time 45 hours per week / Monday to Friday

Job Summary:
As a Field Service Engineer within the Sheet Metal Department, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of sheet metal machine tools (Press Brakes, Hydraulic and Mechanical Guillotines, Hydraulic Folders, and more) at customer locations across the UK.
This role requires a strong mechanical background with electrical experience as a necessity. Candidates should have strong problem-solving abilities and a dedication to providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with machine tools and a deep understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Applicants should have a full, clean UK driving license and be willing to travel, with regular overnight stays required.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Commissioning:
⦁ Install Press Brake, Folder, and Guillotine systems.
⦁ Conduct testing and calibration to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
⦁ Provide full control system software and machine training to end users to a high standard.
Maintenance and Repair:
⦁ Perform routine maintenance and servicing to minimise downtime.
⦁ Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, including mechanical, electrical, tooling, programming/operation, and software problems.
⦁ Repair or replace defective components to restore system operation.
Customer Support:
⦁ Provide technical support and training to customers on operation and maintenance.
⦁ Respond to service calls and resolve customer issues in a timely and professional manner.
⦁ Ensure a positive customer experience and act as a brand representative.
Documentation and Reporting:
⦁ Maintain detailed service records, including job reports, parts used, and completed work.
⦁ Provide feedback and recommendations for product and service improvements.
⦁ Report to your line manager any matters requiring attention at the earliest opportunity.
Continuous Improvement:
⦁ Stay updated with industry advancements, new product ranges, and best practices.
⦁ Participate in training and development programs to enhance technical skills.
⦁ Provide training to co-workers, new starters, trainees, and apprentices via engineer shadowing.
Qualifications:
Experience:
⦁ 2+ years of experience in servicing and maintaining machine tools of the same or similar nature.
⦁ Proven track record in diagnosing and repairing machinery.
Technical Skills:
⦁ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
⦁ Familiarity with laser control systems and software (e.g., CAD/CAM, CNC programming, PLC).
⦁ Understanding of Press Brake and Guillotine standards and practices.
Soft Skills:
⦁ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
⦁ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
⦁ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Other Requirements:
⦁ Valid UK driving license.
⦁ Willingness to travel extensively and stay overnight as necessary.
⦁ Positive work attitude.
⦁ Capable of working in team installations as well as operating independently.
