Populus are working with a global leader in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry who is looking for a I&C Engineer to work on site. Main requirements of the role (not limited to): • The selection, procurement, design, installation and commissioning of new instrumentation and DCS / PLC Systems on both new and existing Plants, including Safety Instrumented Systems, for mostly ‘Hazardous Area’ Plants. • The planning and execution of modifications and upgrades to existing instrumentation and Control Systems, including the recommendation of upgrade strategies for DCS Systems. • Assisting in the development of the annual capital and maintenance budgets, with due consideration to “Ageing Plant” issues. • Supervising DCS (Distributed Control System) related contractors performing agreed activities on both sites, ensuring all EH&S processes including Permit to Work, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Management of Change are followed. • Provide Control Systems Troubleshooting and technical support to the Maintenance and Project teams. • Review and implement (via the Management of Change process) minor improvements to control and operational systems identified by Alarm Management Team, Plant Managers, E&I Compliance Team, etc. • The development of Control Systems related maintenance procedures and operating practices. • Working as part of a team with other Engineering department personnel, Maintenance and Operations personnel and management. • Delivering the awareness training for compliance with I&C standards and the operation of DCS Systems. Qualification: • Strong organisational, leadership and management skills. • Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical or Instrumentation or Control and Instrumentation. • Excellent performance in project management. • Good communication skills. • Fully conversant with Health and Safety issues, Codes of practice, national standards and COMAH Regulations relevant to Control & Instrumentation. • Good understanding of strategic planning and turnaround activities. • Recognised Instrumentation qualification. Desired: • Exposure to a chemical manufacturing environment. • Good I.T. skills to utilise various department software systems
