Regional Manager - Solar PV (North Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire and Derbyshire)

About the role
We are recruiting into our Field Based team and are currently looking for a Regional Manager to cover our Solar PV portfolio in North Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
The Regional Manager is responsible for their assigned area in terms of staffing, equipment and training which is required to carry out all services necessary for a full operation of the assigned PV plants. They oversee the performance of the teams in their region and lead by example. Furthermore, the Regional Manager is responsible for the fulfilment of the company’s contractual obligations regarding the technical operation of the PV plants and supports their teams in all works which are required to meet those obligations. We will consider applications from experienced technicians who wish to move into a line managerial role.
What you will do
1. With the support of the PV Senior Technical Operations Manager, the Regional Manager will be responsible for the daily operational and HR line management of the site-based technical staff including annual appraisals, all disciplinary and absence-based protocols for the field technicians with the region.
2. Support the Senior Technical Operations Manager and the other Project Managers in ensuring that the field team works to the values and overriding principles set out in the BayWa r.e. mission statement, and that the region delivers excellent technical service quality to its customers and stakeholders.
3. Deliver effective HSE leadership at all times to enhance the organisation’s commitment to safety performance, ensuring high standards in Health, Safety and Environment and Quality are maintained.
4. Be aware of HSE with the HSE Manager and/or the Senior Technical Operations Manager, taking lead responsibility in implementing measures and coaching Lead Technicians, Junior and Site Technicians on compliance with HSE.
5. Support SHEQ and Senior Technical Operations Manager in investigations into any Hazardous Observations/Near Misses or Incidents, including reporting findings and monitoring corrective actions.
6. Support the O&M Coordinator in compiling the annual PPM schedule.
7. Understand the company’s obligations regarding ongoing or ad hoc works on sites in the region, ensuring compliance.
8. Take regional responsibility for plant performance, work quality and site appearance across sites within the area.
9. Support the O&M Coordinator to update and schedule works using FRM and provide input on work scheduling.
10. Assist regional teams in performing scheduled and corrective maintenance works for solar plants.
11. Coordinate with regional teams and support safety walks and guidance for Lead or Junior/Site Technicians.
12. Ensure all reporting by the Regional Manager and technicians is submitted professionally, completely, and timely.
13. Together with the Project Manager, lead onboarding of new sites, including due diligence and onboarding visits.
14. Meet third parties onsite and liaise with them as directed by the Senior Technical Operations Manager.
15. Support with spare parts/inventory matters and ensure records are up to date.
16. Ensure team members have the correct PPE equipment, vehicles, and training.
17. Support recruitment of new field staff in coordination with the Senior Technical Operations Manager.
18. Assist Project Managers and Procurement Manager with quoting for works.
19. Support operational responsibility for ensuring and improving profit margins on field operations.
20. Carry out new joiner inductions and be responsible for onboarding and coaching new field staff.
21. Take part in the company’s on-call rota for non-working hours.
What you’ll need to succeed
1. 18th Edition / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation.
2. HV Trained with evidence via personal switching log book.
3. At least 3 years’ experience working on utility scale solar farms in an O&M/Project role.
4. Key inverter manufacturer trained, for example, SMA, ABB, Power Electronics.
5. Line Management experience preferred but not essential.
6. Eligibility to work in the UK.
