As part of our continued support to a major customer in the automotive industry, we are looking for a Manufacturing Process Engineer with experience in process, project management, and design and installation of manufacturing processes and equipment.
This is a contract position that has been deemed as outside IR35 - pending contractor assessment, the rate will be dependent on experience, seniority, etc.
The role will be based at the customer's facility in Cheshire.
Responsibilities
* Design process - feasibility
* Co-design Product & Process:
o Style Assessment: check and quotation
o Requirements monitoring (definition scope according to RFQ schedule and follow-up)
o Assembly Integration and Validation Plan and Digital ECM Quotation: manage and check
o Define the list of parts needed for the mock-up and trials
o Participation in meetings: Hot housing meeting, area meeting, GDM meeting
o Technical review: validation robustness
o Traceability/conformity/safety tightening/sensitive process
o Management DST and assembly
o Contribution to SP assessment
* Assembly process adaptation:
o Elaboration of the assembly sequence respecting the target gateways; if deviation from the target, justify this deviation
o Quotation of the different solutions if necessary: time, investments, surface, sequential delivering
o Definition of operating process and process sheets
o Development of product and process feasibility for assembly
o Technical proposals to guarantee assembly
* Creation of requests for tools/equipment:
o Creation of FOA (fiches d'ouverture d'affaire) request for study of specific tools or studying feasibility of assembling
o CAO environment will be provided to tool supplier for making feasibility study
o Participation in the construction of the way of integrating and validating process (contribution to book of specification of the equipment)
o Assembly evaluation synthesis to fill in the delivery's acceptance
o Creation of process sheets
* Creation of assembly process sheets for one main car and then for all diversities according to our standards:
o Definition of operating mode with evaluation of time needed to do operations by using MTM2 analysis
o Realisation of the illustration coming from PLM of P sheets (M,D,E and A) from CAO
o Analysis and reduction of tightening diversity; the process sheets will be written in English, automatic foreign translation should be provided (according to list to be defined by the OEM at SFM)
* Validation on plant and pilot line:
o Transfer to manufacturing team the process sheets
o Management of solving assembly issues during assembling (reactivity)
o Participation and update of PS during assembling of car dedicated to validate process sheets ('slow build')
o Support of assembly unit leader for the first vehicle
o Time adjustment for specific Process Sheet (manipulator)
o Transfer to serial team of all P sheets.
Qualifications
* HNC/Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Engineering

* A high level of understanding of manufacturing processes and procedures ideally within a fast-paced environment.
