This post has been funded by Macmillan Cancer Support for a 24 month fixed term contract or a secondment opportunity. This post is an exciting opportunity to implement the Macmillan Information and Support service project across Northumbria Healthcare Trust
The post holder will manage, evaluate and continue to develop the service for the new service.
This post will continue to support clinical teams linking in with established support sector, primary care, public health, palliative care, acute teams and community services on the personalised care agenda in cancer and oncology care. Fundamental will be patient engagement at all aspects of this development.
Underpinning this is the living with and beyond cancer agenda, reducing health inequalities and ensuring patients/families can receive sign posting to local support services. The service will utilise digital options, and the necessity for an agile service to meet the users needs.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres.
We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us. We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.
