The Role
Mergon UK are currently hiring a Health, Safety & Continuous Improvement Officer to join our team in Blackburn. This role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all statutory Health and Safety Regulations and proactively driving benchmark performance in terms of Health and Safety performance.
Hours of Work:
8.15am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday, one early finish at 1pm; day tbc, 45 minutes unpaid lunch break.
Job Purpose:
To ensure compliance with all statutory Health and Safety Regulations and proactively drive benchmark performance in terms of Health and Safety performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the Mergon UK Health and Safety Management System
- Update Safety Statement
- Carry out Risk Assessments and ensure Risk Assessments are carried out by others as appropriate,
- Complete Audits and Inspections,
- Identify health and safety training needs and deliver appropriate and regular training programmes,
- co-ordinate all employee involvement and communication in relation to Health & Safety issues.
• Liaise with all other departments to ensure all new processes and equipment and changes to existing processes and equipment meet health and safety requirements.
• Co-ordinate all emergency response teams and procedures.
• Manage all accidents and post-accident activity including effective and robust root cause investigation and corrective action implementation.
• Benchmark and share information in relation to safety best practice within the Group
Skills & Experience:
To be successful in this role you will likely have
At least 3 years' experience as H&S officer, ideally in a manufacturing environment
Working knowledge of ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management system
Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices
Excellent communication skills with ability to influence others and work as part of a team
Ability to work independent and part of a team.
