We are seeking a SHEQ Advisor for a fixed-term maternity cover role to support the continual improvement of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) culture and performance across the port. Reporting to the Head of SHEQ, you will drive compliance with legislation, maintain our integrated management system, and promote best practices in line with our ISO certifications.
Responsibilities
Promote SHEQ visibility and foster a strong culture of health, safety, environment, and quality.
Develop and update SHEQ policies, ensuring alignment with regulations and best practices.
Conduct audits and ensure compliance with ISO45001, ISO14001, and ISO9001 standards.
Lead investigations into incidents, identifying root causes and preventive measures.
Support risk assessments, site inspections, and contractor oversight.
Facilitate SHEQ meetings and prepare detailed management reports.
Assist with environmental initiatives and incident investigations.
Requirements
Degree qualified in a relevant discipline or significant Health, Safety and Environment experience and NEBOSH qualification
Experience in providing SHEQ advice including direct exposure to port marine and maintenance operations and management systems
Good awareness of risk and demands of a port environment.
Knowledge and understanding of ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and Health & Safety legislation.
Strong understanding of Quality and Safety documentation and experience of working with controlled document management systems.
Train the trainer qualified and the ability to deliver engaging employee and contractor inductions and health and safety training.
Confident in challenging practices and driving improvements at all levels of the organisation.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders
Analytical skills to interpret detailed information and regulations
Problem-solving/ solution orientation with good attention to detail effective at closing out actions
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and customers.
