Virtual Peer Support Volunteer (Long Covid)

Everyone has the right to live life to the full. After a diagnosis of a chest or heart condition or a stroke, many experience fear and isolation and struggle with the impact on their lives.
CHSS have an established online support group for those living with Long Covid. It's a safe space for those affected by Long Covid to talk about their condition, share their experiences, and get support to live their lives to the full. We are looking for volunteers to help run the online group which meets every Tuesday from 2-3pm on Zoom.
Experience Required
Good listening and communication skills; good computer skills; reliable, patient and empathetic; encouraging and supportive; respectful of the opinions of others; understand the need for confidentiality; ability to maintain boundaries; ability to commit to initial and ongoing training and development; ambassador for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.
Travel Details
Home-based.
Travel Expenses
Reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed. These should be discussed with your line manager prior to outlay and must be submitted within the prescribed guidelines as detailed in the Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland Volunteer Expenses Policy.
Support
Training Details
CHSS will provide access to a bespoke range of training and development to support you in your role.
Restrictions
Minimum age: 18
In line with our commitment to safeguarding, this role is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Adults) Scheme in Scotland (PVG).

Frequency & Commitment
We are looking for volunteers to help run the online group which meets every Tuesday from 2-3pm on Zoom. Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
