Wastewaster & Waste Regulation Deputy Manager (Fixed-term for 12 months)
The Environmental Regulation Function of Engineering & Sustainability Directorate is responsible for the development of a high profile and quantitative wastewater and waste scientific advisory function that will enable Northern Ireland Water (NIW) to establish future quality standards and to monitor the performance of wastewater and waste operations.
Nature is a key priority for NI Water as defined in our Strategy. Furthermore, failure to meet NI Water’s regulatory requirements may result in NI Water facing enforcement notices and legal proceedings from its environmental regulators.
The Waste and Wastewater Regulation Deputy Manager is required to assist the Band 4 (Wastewater and Waste) Regulation Manager based in NI Water’s Head Office, who is responsible for the interface with the Environmental Regulator Teams;
* Water Utility Regulation Group, Water Management Unit;
* Pollution Prevention Control (PPC) Compliance Team, Waste Management Unit
* Environmental Health Officers within Local Councils

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
1. A third level qualification (Degree/HND/HNC) in a relevant scientific or environmental subject plus 3 Years’ experience working in either water supply science or wastewater science with a statutory undertaker.
Or (in the absence of a 3rd Level qualification)
5 Years’ experience working in either water supply science or wastewater science with a statutory undertaker.
2. Demonstrable experience in analysing and interpreting scientific data and preparing reports.
3. Demonstrate experience of influencing internal and external senior stakeholders winning support for approaches and recommendations.
4. Demonstrate effective communication skills to a variety of different audiences including senior management, stakeholders and internal business partners utilizing a variety of media including, analytics, reports and presentations.
5. Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook applications.
6. As this post requires you to travel on official duty throughout Northern Ireland, you must have a full, current driving license or access to a reliable means of transport, which will enable you to fulfil your responsibilities. This is an operational requirement and is essential to meet business needs.
