Job summary We are recruiting for a Medical Receptionist to join our busy friendly team. We are a growing practice with a number of different specialities, including a new triaging system. Main duties of the job Answering patient telephone calls. Dealing with secondary care organisations. Booking and managing the appointment system. Triaging same day care. Dealing with emergencies. Working on the front desk and being the first port of call. Process all paperwork in the GP drop box, passing prescriptions to the prescribing clerks. Dealing with inbound and outbound emails. Date posted 01 November 2024 Pay scheme Other Salary £11.55 an hour Contract Permanent Working pattern Part-time Reference number A1606-Receptionist Job locations 26 – 30 London Road Cowplain Waterlooville Hampshire PO8 8DL Job description Job responsibilities Specific duties & responsibilities To carry out reception duties as directed to include: 1 Make appointments for doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals using the practices clinical software system and in conjunction with practice protocols 2 Process messages for doctors, nurses and the wider primary health care team 3 Deal with enquiries from patients and callers, referring on to the appropriate member of the practice team when necessary 4 Recognise peoples need for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly 6 Action requests for ambulance and hospital car transport 7 Retrieve and file manual patient records where necessary 8 Register new patients when required to do so, ensuring completion of the associated documentation 9 Process monies received by patients for non-GMS services. (Private letters, holiday Cancellation forms etc) 10 Log on to the practice generic emails print all appropriate discharge summaries/OOH. 11 Process tasks sent by GPs, nurses. Contact patients if an appointment to see the doctor is on the task sending letters or MJOG messages if unable to contact via phone. 12 Process all paperwork in the GP drop box, pass acute prescriptions to prescribing clerks, email physio forms to appropriate dept, file completed prescriptions in collection boxes on reception, put any post into the post tray. 13 Give general advice to patients where specifically requested by the partners and in line with written protocols. 14 Assist all visiting locum GPs as necessary, specifically ensuring that the consulting rooms/computers are ready for use 15 To ensure that patient records are kept up to date 16 Ensure that the reception and administration area is adequately secured at the end of the working day.
