About the role
As the Senior Operations Lead for the Intellectual Property (IP) Unit, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the operational efficiency and strategic alignment of the unit with the overarching goals of the NIHR. Reporting directly to the Head of Technology Transfer (HTT), you will orchestrate efforts to streamline processes, run resources effectively, and cultivate collaborations that drive societal impact.
Key responsibilities
1. Collaborate with developing and implementing the IP Unit’s Business Plan, ensuring alignment with NIHR's mission, objectives, and key initiatives.
2. Design, implement, and lead systems and processes to safeguard taxpayer investments through meticulous contract management, due diligence, and policy adherence, promoting health, economic, and social impact.
3. Assist in formulating medium-term plans for resource management, including finances and workforce development, with a focus on stabilizing team turnover and enhancing progression pathways.
4. Strengthen governance processes by ensuring compliance with existing and new standard operating procedures (SOPs), and encouraging good governance practices internally and with external collaborators.
5. Facilitate detailed integration and collaboration with their divisions within the Innovations Division, promoting a unified approach to NIHR's objectives.
6. Handle key external relationships with government bodies, funded institutions, SMEs, and investors to develop strategic partnerships aligned with the IP Unit’s goals.
7. Engage with national and international technology transfer organizations to drive policy development and standard processes, improving our reputation as a leader in knowledge mobilisation.
8. Develop and maintain comprehensive reporting for contracting activities and implement a client relationship management system in line with NIHR's operational standards.
9. Lead all aspects of the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of consent and due diligence processes within the IP Unit, ensuring adherence to SOPs and data management standards.
10. Drive a culture of inclusivity and flexibility within the team, adapting job responsibilities and tasks as needed to support organizational evolution.

17. Familiarity with academic research activities and funding processes (desirable).
18. Knowledge of policy translation into practice and organisational change principles (desirable).
19. Competency in Microsoft Office, G Suite, and project management software.
