Although the service provides care across the whole County and Bassetlaw, this specific post will be mostly offering appointments to patients in the Newark and Mansfield areas. Perinatal Mental Health Services has received extensive investment in recent years, recognising the importance on public health in treating mental health problems in the perinatal period. We are looking for an enthusiastic, diligent, and experienced Mental Health Nurse who has the ability to manage complex situations to join our team. Sound therapeutic strategies, combined with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing are essential. You will have experience of working with mothers with perinatal illness and some knowledge of normal child development in order to understand the potential impact of untreated maternal mental illness on the developing foetus/infant/children. You will have the ability to liaise effectively with various health, social and voluntary professionals. A sound working knowledge of Safeguarding is also required. This post offers a supportive team working environment, with commitment to supervision. To participate fully as a member of the specialised PCPN team providing total packages of care from assessment through to discharge which includes prevention/minimisation of detrimental effects of Perinatal illnesses on the developing foetus/infant and other children. To maintain a diary of work activities and to produce timely and accurate statistics as required to enable close monitoring of contractual activity and to provide data for audit purposes. To maintain excellent communication between other service providers to ensure good multi-disciplinary working, attending case conferences and client reviews as required. To offer specialist advice/training to other professionals, carers, statutory and voluntary agencies to promote mental health awareness. To provide advice and consultation to GPs, Consultant Psychiatrists, Obstetricians and other medical staff, Midwives, Health Visitors, Social Workers and other allied professionals. To provide urgent assessments on the maternity wards in the locality. To ensure client confidentiality is maintained in line with Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Policy. To maintain effective records in line with Trust Policies and Procedures.
