Main Purpose of the Job
The childcare provision will offer fully inclusive early education integrated with childcare and the postholder main purposes are to:
1. Manage the integrated delivery of the educare provision to a specified age range of children, adhering to the ethos of the Pre-School and promoting the agreed vision and aims of the school.
2. Work in partnership with staff, parents, carers and their children and adopt a flexible, professional approach in promoting the development, welfare and potential of all children attending the Centre.
3. Provide high quality, inclusive, fully integrated childcare provision for children under five.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
To have responsibility for a number of key children attending the Pre-School, working in partnership with families, ensuring the development of individual children’s childcare needs and social skills are met at all times.
Working within the framework established by the Childcare Manager, duties will therefore include:
• Being responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the children at the Pre-School.
• Providing high quality childcare for the under fives, which includes a wide range of activities and opportunities to enable children to achieve their full potential.
• Assist in provision of a warm and caring environment for children and their families, accessible to all.
• To integrate children and parents with disabilities, sensitively and positively into the Pre-School, promoting participation in a range of quality activities.
• To ensure that accurate observations, assessments and other records are maintained and accessible to parents/carers and children.
• To assist the staffing team in the provision of a high-quality Early Years Curriculum which adheres to OFSTED requirements through planning, effective room organisation and provision of Early Years resources.
• To develop and supervise a high-quality play environment both indoors and outdoors, which meets each child’s individual needs, in accordance with the Early Learning goals.
• Liaise with parents/carers to highlight the needs of their children and sharing developmental information on a regular basis to ensure effective communication and parent partnership.
To assist the staff team in ensuring the maintenance of adequate standards of cleanliness and hygiene for families and children through the maintenance of prescribed standards and repair of equipment and premises. This may include some light domestic duties as circumstances demand.
To have an overall knowledge of and provide a service which values and respects the race, religion, language, culture and needs of all the children and families using the Pre-School
To accept responsibility for special projects or areas within the Pre-School as directed by the Deputy Manager/EYFS Lead/Headteacher.
To be aware and work within the Health and Safety framework, and OFSTED policies, procedures, guidelines and legislation to include fire drills.
To participate in regular supervision and staff meetings and the appraisal cycle, completing relevant training when needed.
To provide flexibility in covering and care at short notice in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
To set an example of personal integrity and professionalism, being an exemplary role model to all children, staff, parents/carers and visitors.
