Learning Leader (Teaching Assistant) - Academy
Monday-Friday 33.5 hours per week

As part of this role you will provide support and/or interventions with children or young people in our School or College in academic subjects, addressing the needs of students who need help to overcome barriers to learning and behaviour. This is a variable role working across school and college across different classes, supporting staff professional development, student need and staff absence.

Your role as Learning Leader brings this daily experience to life for our students, supporting them to achieve their individual goals and gain independence. Each day as a School Learning Leader is varied and inspirational - our curriculum is broad and specific to each student, including a chance to bring learning to life through class off-site visits. Classroom sizes are small in order to provide the best learning and communication support to each individual. Staff are well supported through our weekly CPD sessions, and in being sponsored through BSL qualifications to help your professional development.

Key responsibilities:
* Contribute effectively to teacher planning and preparation of lessons
* Monitor student’s participation and progress, providing feedback to teachers and giving constructive support to pupils as they learn
* Communicate effectively and sensitively with pupils to support their learning
* Promote and support the inclusion of deaf pupils and all pupils in their learning activities
* To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young adults responsible for (or come into contact with) in accordance with the Academy’s Safeguarding Policy & Procedures
* Contribute to planning, recording and implementation of Student Support Plans
Key Requirements:
* Experience of working within an Education setting (or an equivalent position)
* Ability to relate well to students, colleagues, other professionals and parents
* Working knowledge of national/foundation stage curriculum and other relevant learning strategies
* Promote and safeguard the welfare of students/young people
