Operational Duties
Machinery & Plant Operation: Be proficient in operating all machinery and plant essential to the business unit, ensuring their safe and efficient use.
This shift will be required to work 4on 4off - Fixed days.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance:
1. Conduct daily and weekly checks on machinery and plant.
2. Perform refuelling, lubrication, and greasing as needed to maintain operational standards.
3. Promptly record and report any defects or breakdowns to ensure timely resolution.
Production Reporting: Accurately report daily production output and any downtime to the Operations Manager for review and action.
Safety & Compliance
Work Environment:
1. Maintain a safe and organized workspace, ensuring walkways and emergency exits are free of obstructions.
2. Always use the appropriate safety equipment and PPE.
Incident Reporting: Immediately report:
1. Non-conforming wastes or contamination delivered to the site.
2. Accidents, incidents, near-misses, environmental hazards, and health & safety breaches to the relevant manager.
Continuous Improvement
1. Training: Undertake necessary training to expand capabilities, including the operation of additional machinery or equipment.
2. Audits & Checks: Conduct random checks and audits on machinery under your remit to ensure compliance with operational standards.
Flexibility & Business Continuity
1. Cover other operational roles as needed to ensure the continuity of business activities.
2. Engage in manual handling tasks to assist with waste management activities.
Health & Safety
1. Take responsibility for personal health and safety, as well as that of colleagues potentially affected by your work actions.
2. Actively identify and report unsafe conditions to foster a safe workplace culture.
3. Adhere to the company’s management systems, safe systems of work, and legal requirements.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
1. The ideal candidate will have experience operating either Loading Shovel, 360, Tele Handler or FLT.
2. Strong understanding of plant and machinery operations.
3. Exceptional attention to detail in maintenance and safety protocols.
4. Effective communication and reporting skills.
5. Proactive approach to problem-solving and incident management.
6. Commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
