Shift Pattern – We operate on a 5-day working week while the cows are grazing, with every other weekend off. Moving to 6 on 2 off through calving and serving. This offers our staff a long-lasting work life balance.
£36,000 - £40,000 per year. DOE

Essential Criteria:
- Have previous experience in agriculture and grass-based block calving dairy cow management
- Demonstrate strong people management skills and positive values and behaviours
- AI qualification or strong desire to achieve it.
Our Farm & Business
We are a successful multi-site, grazing-based dairy business with three units across Northamptonshire and Warwickshire. You will be part of our largest operation, consisting of 550 Freisan, cross-bred grazing cows over 380ha. With a 44/88 Herringbone parlour and well-developed infrastructure of tracks and grazing platform, this is a key role within our business. The herd is averaging 6200 litres with the milk supplied on a TSDG Arla Tesco contract and calving being completed in spring.
Each farm is run independently with close collaboration, building a powerful culture based on high animal welfare, excellent working conditions and consistent investment in our staff.
Your Role
Due to the development and expansion of our business, we are looking for a 2-i-c/Herdsperson to add to our existing team. Working closely with the Herd Manager, roles and responsibilities will include:
· Daily management and responsibility of the herd and ensuring animal welfare is the top priority.
· Overseeing the day-to-day management in the absence of the Herd Manager, including leading on cow health and staff management
· Milking to a high standard as part of a team and ensuring the parlour is kept clean and safe to operate.
· Identifying & Treating illnesses and informing the Herd Manager of any observations.
· Daily control of dry cow management, calving cows, and colostrum protocols.
· Working closely with the Herd Manager to achieve agreed KPI’s and herd targets.
· Liaising with Vets, nutritionists and consultants for the farm.
· Grass Management and measuring.
· Keeping basic records and compliance up to date.
· Ensuring the overall farm is kept tidy and safe to operate.
· Farm machinery and general farm maintenance.
Requirements
Your Requirements:
· Full UK Driving License
· Proof of UK Right to Work
· AI & Foot trimming qualifications are preferred
· Be a confident and organised individual with high attention to detail
· Have the capabilities to be decisive and adapt quickly to different situations
