The Cellular Pathology department based at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro is looking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced candidate to join the department as an Associate Practitioner in the Histopathology section.
The department received 40,000 histopathology requests in 2024,which includes samples from the 900 Coronial PMs performed. The department includes a modern immunocytochemistry / molecular biology unit & provides a Rapid On-site Evaluation (ROSE) service to the EBUS/EUS clinics. Where over 300 samples a year are processed, assessed & reported on-site.
As an Associate Practitioner the post holder will be required to conform to agreed standard operational procedures, policies, good laboratory practice and comply with the standards as required of ISO15189:2022 and the Human Tissue Authority.
This post will be suitable for applicants who already have experience working in a Cellular Pathology laboratory in a supporting role & are looking to further their career.
The successful candidate will primarily be part of the Histopathology team & as such will be require to perform all technical duties associated with this role. There is also the potential to rotate through the Cytopathology section & prepare/process diagnostic Cytopathology samples, although this is not essential for this post.
This is a full time, permanent post. The hours are currently within a framework of 07:00 – 17:00 hours, Monday-Friday.
