The dermatology service in Hywel Dda works closely with Swansea Bay University Health Board and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board to underpin services to create sustainable solutions as per recommendations of the Planned Care Dermatology Board in 2019 (now reconfigured to the Clinical Implementation Network) and in line with Welsh Government RTT and Single Cancer Pathway targets. The vision is to maximize the use of technology to support and enhance the service for patients across the region.
To provide, with consultant colleagues (as appropriate), a service in Dermatology and supporting the development of sub-Specialty interest, including urgent suspected cancer pathways, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of dermatological illnesses.
Main duties of the job
1. To ensure the provision and delivery of a first-class clinical service.
2. To provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty.
3. To sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate.
4. To undertake all work in accordance with the Health Board's procedures and operating policies.
5. To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Health Board's service plans.
6. To maintain the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty or the Health Board.
7. Core clinical expertise in Dermatology.
8. Experience and knowledge of running a sub-specialty service.
9. Leadership and team building skills as well as working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
10. Supporting and training multidisciplinary teams.
11. Delivering care in the community alongside primary health care and social care teams.
12. Addressing the Intermediate Care Agenda.
13. Participating in CPD including Audit.
You are expected to maintain your professional development for Revalidation. A Teaching and Training Role for medical undergraduates and postgraduates. Educational Supervisor role to Junior and Middle Grade Medical Staff.
To undertake regular multidisciplinary clinical audit and provide evidence-based medicine.
