The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient operations across BioPhorum's IT systems and services. This role acts as the bridge between IT strategy and daily operations, providing hands-on technical support, managing systems, and ensuring rapid issue resolution. The IT Systems Engineer will own and execute routine technical tasks, reducing the dependency on the Head of IT for regular operations and enabling the team to focus on strategic initiatives.
Main Responsibilities
1. Helpdesk Support: Act as the first line of support for the internal helpdesk, resolving approximately 100 tickets per month, with a focus on rapid resolution and minimising disruption.
2. Hub Operational Processes: Oversee the creation and management of new team/subteam sites, site changes, user support, and data hygiene to foster collaboration on The Hub (our SharePoint based customer collaboration platform).
3. Data Management: Handle data imports and fixes to streamline front-end processing and improve reporting accuracy, typically into Microsoft Dynamics.
4. Vendor Management: Manage escalations with external support vendors, ensuring quick and efficient responses to issues.
5. IT Operations: Coordinate starters and leavers provisioning, deliver staff training, follow up on phishing incidents, and perform other operational IT tasks.
6. Support IT Strategy: Allow the Head of IT to focus on high-level strategy by effectively handling day-to-day operational tasks and providing solutions for IT-related issues across the organization.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
1. Technical Expertise: Demonstrable experience in IT system management, including SharePoint, Microsoft 365 admin tasks, and general IT operations.
2. Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly understand business needs and translate them into actionable IT solutions.
3. Stakeholder Engagement: Able to engage with stakeholders at all levels of seniority, providing clear communication and managing expectations.
4. SharePoint & Microsoft 365: Solid experience with SharePoint administration and Microsoft 365 management, with the ability to troubleshoot, optimise, and enhance these systems.
5. Independent Ownership: Comfortable taking ownership of tasks and delivering solutions with minimal supervision.
6. Vendor Management: Experience working with external vendors to manage escalations and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
7. Data Management: Practical knowledge of managing and improving data processes to support organizational needs.
Location
This is a home-based role, with expected travel in the UK twice a year to participate in All Company meetings.
