Job summary
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Finance Manager to join our dedicated Finance Team. You will play a key role in providing excellent financial management and leadership skills within the Organisation, working closely with clinical and corporate directorates.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and ambitious CCAB/CIMA qualified accountant. They will be able to demonstrate a proven track record in financial management, academic success and with strong personal qualities, including communication skills, persuasion and team working. A working knowledge of finance and accounting practices, procedures and policies particularly pertinent to the NHS is required.
You will possess a high level of analytical skill with excellent organisational skills.
Main duties of the job
The overarching aim of this role is to provide financial direction and guidance to a Clinical Care Group and Corporate Directorates, and ensure rigorous financial control is implemented and maintained. The post-holder will promote the highest standards of financial management and governance.
The post holder will be a vital and integral member of each Directorate's Executive Management Team. They will provide strategic financial and business planning advice to these teams and to Executive Directors. The post holder operates as part of the core Care Group teams, working closely with the Operations Director (as the Accountable Officer) and Nurse Director and contributing to, and influencing major strategic and operational decisions.
The post holder is responsible for managing and standardising the financial processes within one of the three Financial Management Teams to deliver a high standard of customer focused financial management service to all budget holders served by the Team.
To deputise for the Head of Financial Management and operationally manage the Team on a day-to-day basis.

* CCAB or CIMA Qualified
* First level degree or demonstrable equivalent experience

* IT competency qualification
* Postgraduate certificate in a Finance discipline, or, equivalent experience in a Finance function

* Significant relevant post qualification experience
* Expert Knowledge of finance and accounting practices, procedures and policies particularly pertinent to the NHS
* Evidence of high levels of achievement in challenging financial and general environments.
* Clear understanding of broader NHS and Government policies and strategies and the impact of these on NHS Provider organisations
* Demonstrable experience in the management, co-ordination and direction of a Team of Staff producing timely and accurate information.
* Experience of financial systems and in particular demonstrably good IT skills including Advanced Excel skills and Budgeting software
* Demonstrable experience of the full range of management accounting and / or costing duties
* Experience in leading the implementation of financial projects
* Experience of promotion / engagement of non-finance staff in the use of financial information
