PLC Automation Engineer
Location: Beccles, Suffolk
Salary: £50,000 per annum
Monday to Friday - 7.30am to 4.00pm

Our client, a leading automation and manufacturing solutions provider, is seeking a talented individual to join their aftersales team. This is a dynamic and fast-paced role, perfect for someone who enjoys both reactive and proactive customer support.
About the Role:
As a PLC Automation Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the commissioning, installation, and ongoing maintenance of cutting-edge automated systems. This role involves a mix of on-site and remote support, ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the life-cycle of the equipment. You will also assist in training and developing service engineers, as well as identifying and implementing system improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Diagnose and resolve customer issues remotely and on-site in a timely manner.
2. Provide technical support to the aftersales team.
3. Support customer service contracts, including pre-service visit preparations.
4. Modify and program PLCs, servo drives, robots, and other controllers to meet customer needs.
5. Troubleshoot and adjust mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control systems.
6. Identify opportunities to improve systems and present findings to the team.
7. Record and document test results, modifications, and feedback.
8. Assist with commissioning and testing of new equipment, as well as post-installation maintenance.
9. Deliver exceptional customer service during factory acceptance tests (FATs) and site visits.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Vocational training or apprenticeship in electrical and/or mechanical disciplines.
2. Engineering qualification and at least 5 years of experience in an electrical or mechanical environment.
3. Proficiency in programming PLCs and HMIs using Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Festo, Siemens, or similar.
4. Experience with servo systems, VFDs, remote I/O, and industrial networks (e.g., Ethernet, Profibus).
5. Familiarity with 6-axis robot systems is preferred.
6. Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
7. Ability to interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics.
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
9. Willingness to travel worldwide to support customers.
