South Tyneside and Sunderland Foundation Trust Podiatry Department is looking for a person. You will work as part of the Diabetic podiatry foot and eye screening service (Community sites, Primary Care Centres and Health Centres across Sunderland (ie HoughtonPCC, Pallion HC, Galleries HC, Dundas ST HC)).
Please note this Post is fixed-term for one year. You will be expected to complete an internal competency programme within the first two months and also complete the Trusts Care Certificate within six months of commencing. You will be allocated a mentor to support your individual learning.
You must have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to operate effectively in a team.

Main duties of the job
The main purpose of the job will be to provide a high-quality foot screening service to the Diabetic population of Sunderland, including providing assistance to those attending the Podiatry Diabetic Foot Care Team.
The job operates Monday to Friday, normally working hours are 8.30am to 4.30pm. However, we will support flexible working arrangements.

Job responsibilities
A large proportion of the job will be to provide a high-quality foot screening service to the Diabetic population of Sunderland and Durham.

Qualifications
* Basic Numeracy & Literacy skills to a minimum of Level 1 or equivalent.
* Basic IT skills.
* It is expected that you will successfully complete the in-service foot screening programme.
* You will need to complete the Trust Care Certificate within six months of Appointment.
* Level 2 (or above) NVQ in Care.
Personal Qualities
* Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Able to understand instructions and carry out duties in accordance with them.
Experience
* Basic understanding of health and safety requirements in a patient environment.
* General understanding of confidentiality requirements in a healthcare setting.
* Previous experience of direct patient contact in a caring role in either the NHS or care sector.
Skills
* Literacy and numeracy skills to at least level 1.
* Ability to prioritise tasks.
* Ability to communicate health-related information in an understandable way to patients and colleagues, adapting communication style to meet the needs of the recipient.
* Ability to document the results generated from each individual screen and to refer patient.
* Able to move and handle patients who are immobile, wheelchair or bed-bound, often working in difficult conditions.
