The Role:
To manage all branch functions in order to exceed budgeted contribution by exceeding sales targets while delivering on our customers’ requirements through cost-effective and innovative operational and sales management.
Responsibilities:
Finance:
1. Develop annual branch budget for discussion with senior management
2. Develop sales and distribution plans to achieve budget
3. Ensure that branch operational costs are maintained within budget
4. Provide regular and ad hoc sales and operation reports as requested.
Leadership:
1. Recruit, induct, train, and retain staff of the required number and caliber
2. Continuously assess branch and sales staff against identified performance criteria
3. Identify and address issues of performance and conduct within the branch in accordance with Bunzl HR policies
4. Ensure all training requirements are met and regularly reviewed, and development plans identified where appropriate.
Operational Efficiency:
1. Maintain inventory in line with budget
2. Maintain fleet operations in line with legal requirements and Bunzl EHS and transport policy
3. Manage EHS performance to minimise Bunzl KPI’s and in line with business EHS performance targets
4. Manage workplace and equipment in line with legal requirements and Bunzl EHS policy
5. Manage, support and coach key operational staff
Sales:
1. Develop and implement a sales plan focused on gaining new customers and expanding business levels with existing customers
2. Organise branch sales resources to generate sufficient sales and margin to achieve budgeted contribution
3. Project manage the tender process involving all relevant areas of the business to ensure the tender is financially viable and commercial risk is minimised
4. Manage, support and coach the sales manager and sales staff
5. Ensure that all staff are kept informed of relevant information on sales, promotional and distribution initiatives to ensure market maximisation
6. Support all areas of sales by provision of specific area sales reports on branch activities and performance.
Customer Service:
1. Ensure all staff focus on the customer and find ways to meet customer needs, converting business strategy into practical day-to-day activities
2. Instil a customer service ethic throughout the branch so that queries are dealt with efficiently
3. Ensure customer service levels meet company objectives, through measuring and taking corrective action where necessary
4. Ensure there is an active interface between telesales, sales, and operations.
