Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor
£70,000 - £80,000 per annum
About the Role
Our client is a reputable leader in the M&E and Facilities Management sector. With a strong reputation and high standards, we have successfully secured a diverse range of blue-chip clients across both commercial and public sectors.
Key Responsibilities
* Cost Estimation: Assessing the costs of mechanical and electrical elements during the initial planning phase, involving analysis of project specifications, drawings, and relevant documents to determine materials, equipment, and labour required.
* Quantity Take-off: Calculating quantities of materials and equipment needed for mechanical and electrical components, including items such as pipes, cables, lighting fixtures, HVAC systems, and more.
* Cost Planning: Developing comprehensive cost plans and budgets for M&E aspects, breaking down estimated costs into different categories, creating cost forecasts, and monitoring the budget throughout the project life cycle.
* Procurement: Assisting in procurement by preparing tender documents, evaluating bids from contractors and suppliers, and making recommendations on vendor selection, ensuring chosen contractors meet project technical and financial requirements.
* Contract Administration: Managing contractual matters related to mechanical and electrical aspects, reviewing and negotiating contracts, handling variations and change orders, and assessing claims for additional costs or delays.
* Value Engineering: Identifying opportunities for cost savings and value engineering in mechanical and electrical systems, proposing alternative solutions and materials to achieve project objectives while optimising costs.
* Cost Control: Monitoring and controlling costs to ensure alignment with the budget, tracking expenses, preparing cost reports, analysing deviations, and recommending corrective actions when necessary.
* Final Account Settlement: Finalising accounts by reconciling actual costs incurred with budgeted amounts, handling outstanding contractual issues, and ensuring all parties are appropriately compensated.
Requirements
* Relevant professional qualifications within the desired field.
* Proven experience in bid management and quantity surveying within the mechanical and electrical contracting industry.
* Strong understanding of technical and financial aspects of M&E projects.
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards.
