About The Role
The Presales Underwriting Assistant is there to provide outstanding customer experience to LV= Life customers and advisers whilst assisting our Protection medical underwriters to allow them to make good, fair and efficient decisions appropriate to the risk.
This is a 12 month FTC/Secondment
About You
1. Receive and assess new business presales requests via telephone & email by using our online Underwriting tool.
2. Promote the benefits of self-serve to intermediaries and help support advisers where needed.
3. Obtain additional information by contacting the customer or intermediary if necessary.
4. General underwriting administration including keeping the customer/intermediary updated with application progress and requesting further medical requirements.
5. Be keen to offer help and support whilst providing an efficient service to the team, with lots of opportunity to learn from experienced Underwriters.
6. Strong communication skills, be able to build relationships with internal teams to deliver effective results.
7. Use own expertise and ideas to work with other business functions on implementing improvements to our processes, systems and working practices.
8. Deliver training to new joiners and other team members on products, processes and any associated training material.
9. Pro-actively manage own caseload to ensure a good customer journey. Support line manager in helping peers do the same.
10. Work as part of a focussed team, providing support to your colleagues.
Key skills & experience
1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; both written and on the phone.
2. Ability to work in a high paced, changing environment whilst maintaining a high degree of accuracy and meeting tight deadlines.
3. Good administration skills, including the ability to manage, plan, organise, and prioritise your own workload to adapt to customer needs.
4. The ability to work on your own on complex cases whilst also helping your team deliver on key targets.
5. Proactively consider the evolving needs of the business, and our changing industry.
6. The ability to make pragmatic decisions and judgements on your own cases in line with regulatory requirements and the LV= values.
7. Excellent numeracy and literacy, plus a real eye for detail.
8. Working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.

1. Familiar with LV= Protection products.
