Your new role
As a Chartered Structural Engineer, you will design and develop steel frames for industrial and commercial buildings, from start to finish. You will review designs, work with customers to understand their needs, manage engineering teams, and find cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Create and develop steel frame designs that meet standards and customer needs.
* Perform structural analysis to ensure safety and stability.
* Review and certify design calculations and drawings.
* Solve complex structural challenges.
* Meet with clients to gather project requirements and provide technical advice and solutions.
* Review and approve engineering proposals.
* Ensure designs comply with standards and regulations.
* Work with project managers and customers to implement cost-effective solutions.
* Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and consultants to meet design requirements and deadlines.
* Manage engineering teams to deliver design packages on time.
* Manage relationships with external design consultants.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in the Chartered Structural Engineering role, a candidate must be a Chartered Structural Engineer (CEng MIStructE) or Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng MICE) with over 10 years of experience, including 5 years in structural steel design, is required. The candidate should have extensive experience in structural steel design for industrial and commercial buildings, with a proven track record in delivering complex steel design solutions. They must be skilled in reviewing and optimising designs, and have experience in customer-facing roles, providing technical advice, and ensuring client satisfaction. The candidate should possess advanced knowledge of structural steel design and fabrication processes, including industry codes and standards like Eurocodes and AISC. Proficiency with structural design software such as STAAD and Tekla, and familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit, is required.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach. The candidate must be capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality designs on time and within budget.
