Job Summary
FLN Consulting Engineers are an established multi-discipline engineering consultancy with offices in the UK and Ireland. Projects could include healthcare, education, community, housing, offices, retail, commercial, and historic properties, but you can be assured that the projects will be interesting and varied. We are looking for a dynamic individual with relevant experience to join our Glasgow Office team as a Project Mechanical Building Services Engineer.
Qualification and Key Skills
1. Degree qualified and ideally a Chartered Engineer or working towards the same.
2. Mechanical building services engineering consultancy or relevant construction experience.
3. Experience with AutoCAD as a minimum; ideally, Revit is preferable but not essential.
4. Knowledge of design programmes beneficial, including IES, NBS, and others.
5. Very good interpersonal skills and demonstrable experience of developing and maintaining close links with colleagues, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders is essential.
6. Aware and knowledgeable of appropriate legislation and design guidance for use in the UK and, preferably, Ireland.
7. Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, working to tight deadlines and juggling multiple demands.
8. On-site experience.
We would be looking for you to have some level of involvement or recognition with a relevant professional body or be working towards this, and we proactively encourage involvement in technical committees where they are of interest. Continual professional development is of paramount importance to us, and our team is encouraged to develop skills and interests in support of personal and team goals, with regular internal CPD being delivered.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carrying out surveys of building services installation for condition and feasibility studies and energy/carbon reports.
2. Leading designs from conception to handover, including working with and training other members of staff, where required.
3. Assisting with the delivery of designs on projects including assessing buildability and cost-effectiveness of solutions.
4. Liaising with clients and engineering design team members to execute and deliver projects, while assuring quality and service commitments are met.
5. Attending project meetings and technical meetings and undertaking site surveys and compliance inspections.
