Mercury Hampton is working exclusively with this client, a world-leading manufacturer of rotating equipment and mechanical components for various industrial sectors including Chemical, Oil & Gas, Food and Beverage, Pulp and Paper, Mining, Process, Defence, Power, Wastewater, and Pharmaceutical. Established for many years, our client is a global leader in rotating equipment with multimillion turnover operating worldwide. They manufacture products, systems, and solutions that enhance pump efficiency and reliability while significantly reducing maintenance downtime and cost.
Role Overview: Reporting directly to the UK Sales Manager, the successful candidate will manage business activities throughout the Northwest of England and North Wales region. Responsibilities include 70% strategic key account management of existing clients and 30% new business activity. The role involves technical solution selling, requiring a mechanical engineering aptitude and strong sales skills.
This is a home-based role requiring regular customer visits. It is anticipated that one day will be spent working from home with four days focused on customer development and management. As a Technical Sales Engineer, you will report all sales and quotation activity monthly and will be supported by a team of internal sales engineers.
The Candidate:
1. External sales experience from an associated sector (mechanical seals, rotating equipment, pumps, valves, etc.)
2. Mechanical Engineering Background
3. Full knowledge of rotating equipment and mechanical seals highly beneficial
4. Understanding of Rotating Equipment (pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, seals, etc.)
5. Strong strategic thinker with exceptional relationship management skills
6. Ability to identify upselling/cross-selling opportunities
7. Excellent communication skills across various levels
8. Proven track record of B2B sales
9. Dynamic “can do” attitude and enthusiasm for sales
10. Engineering qualification advantageous but not essential
11. Mechanical engineering apprenticeship desirable
12. Extensive product training will be provided
