As a Stock & Equipment Officer within the End User Workplace team on the Devon & Cornwall and Dorset Police Managed ICT Contract, you will ensure police officers and staff have the IT equipment they need to perform their duties without disruption. You will be responsible for managing inventory, logistics, and availability of IT hardware—including computers, monitors, and peripherals—keeping everything tracked, maintained, and readily available.
Your attention to detail and clear record-keeping will play a crucial role in maintaining operational efficiency, directly supporting critical policing activities. By ensuring IT equipment is properly stocked and functioning, you will help underpin essential services, contributing to public safety and the smooth running of police operations.
Working in a 24/7/365 environment, you will help meet and exceed contract requirements and service level agreements (SLAs) by delivering high-quality IT support. You’ll collaborate with colleagues, customers, and third-party providers to implement infrastructure changes and maintain a seamless IT service. What You Will Be Doing:
* Maintain accurate records of IT hardware, software, and peripherals, tracking stock levels, deployments, and returns to ensure seamless operations.
* Assist in ordering IT equipment, collaborating with vendors to ensure timely delivery, cost efficiency, and sufficient stock availability.
* Manage the distribution of IT assets, ensuring staff receive the necessary hardware and software, including setup and configuration for new users.
* Coordinate equipment repairs, upgrades, and warranty claims, liaising with service providers to resolve technical issues efficiently.
* Oversee secure disposal or recycling of obsolete IT equipment in line with environmental regulations and company policies.
* Strong knowledge of inventory management tools, Windows OS, Microsoft Office, client application installation, troubleshooting, and basic networking.
* Provide excellent support to end-users, ensuring clear communication, technical assistance, and a customer-focused approach in a field-based role.
Skills We Require Of You:
* Eligibility for police NPPV3 vetting and an understanding of confidentiality requirements.
* Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and a customer-oriented mindset.
* A team player with a collaborative approach to working with others
* 1 – 2 years’ experience in an IT equipment/stock coordination
* ITIL 4 foundation is a plus but isn’t required, we are looking for your curiosity and drive.
* Full, clean UK driving license and willingness to travel in Devon, Cornwall, and Dorset as required.
