Job overview
Northumbria Endoscopy Trust wide Service is growing. These are exciting times in Endoscopy with growing demands on our services the teams are developing to meet this challenge.
An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic, dedicated Band 3 Endoscopy Nursing Assistants who wish to further their career and gain experience in the Endoscopy Unit. We will consider part time and full time hours. You will be based at Hexham General Hospital but would be expected to cover cross sites as required.

Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Endoscopy Unit Managers and Deputy Unit Managers, the individuals will be responsible for assisting the qualified Endoscopy Nurses in basic nursing care of the patient; ensuring decontamination of endoscopes is completed as per expected standards; ensuring effective communication across a multi-disciplinary team.
The Endoscopy Nursing Assistants need to be flexible to the needs of the service; there is an expectation for weekend / evening working.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To assist the qualified nursing staff in the delivery of high quality direct and indirect patient care.
To provide assistance and support to patients, carers and the multi-disciplinary team.
To maintain high clinical standards.
To help maintain a clean and safe ward environment.
Provides and receives routine information which requires tact or persuasive skills or where there are barriers to understanding.
Providing and receiving routine information orally, in writing or electronically to inform work colleagues, patients, clients, carers, the public or other External contacts.
Person specification
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Health/Health & Social Care/Direct Care or a portfolio of equivalent experience
* Course and experience that demonstrate transferable skills i.e. respiratory essentials, basic stoma care, palliative care course for HCAs.
Experience and Knowledge
* Previous care experience preferably in a health care setting.
Good verbal and written communication.
Able to use electronic systems such as PAS, ICE.
