Building Maintenance Assistant

Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm
£12.45 per hour
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the provision of an effective maintenance service, including the transportation of personnel, materials and equipment.
KEY RESULT AREAS / MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
? Carry out the duties of general upkeep of hospital and other Health Care buildings, including the cutting of lawns, grass areas, hedges etc, with various types of mechanical equipment, also brushing and collecting waste materials from all grounds, car parks, roads, footpath etc.
? Checking and releasing blocked underground drainage systems, manholes and gullies, cleaning of overhead gutters and associated pipework.
? Driving of Estate Service vehicles and trailers for the delivery and collection of materials, equipment or personnel (training provided).
? Assist other trades, both engineering and building, in the carrying out of their duties. Eg opening up for inspections or repairs, cutting tracks, coring holes for the installation of services etc.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Experience
Qualifications / Registration
5 years relevant experience in all aspects of building maintenance to include repairs to flags, roadways, kerbs and grounds.
Plaster repairs and patching prior to decoration.
Wall and floor tile repairs.
Underground drainage clearing and repairs.
Flooring, glazing and ceiling tile repairs
Gritting and snow clearing.
Other
Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on Power washing. appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.
Occasional requirements to work overtime/shift/nights.
If required participate in providing an on call system in accordance with the locally negotiated agreement.
