About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and creative Teacher of Art to join a dynamic and inspiring Art department, located in Luton. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is eager to share their love for the visual arts and inspire students to explore their creative potential across various artistic disciplines.
As a Teacher of Art, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and innovative lessons in both practical and theoretical aspects of Art, across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and potentially Key Stage 5. This is a fantastic role for someone who is committed to nurturing students' creativity, building their confidence in the arts, and supporting their personal development through visual expression.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver high-quality, creative, and engaging Art lessons to students across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and potentially Key Stage 5.
2. Develop and implement an inspiring Art curriculum that encourages students to experiment, create, and appreciate art in its many forms.
3. Support and challenge students of all abilities to reach their full creative potential.
4. Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and tailored support to ensure high levels of achievement.
5. Differentiating lessons to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with additional learning needs.
6. Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes creativity, risk-taking, and personal expression.
7. Contribute to the development of the Art department’s resources, schemes of work, and extracurricular activities.
8. Organise and participate in art-related extracurricular activities, such as clubs, exhibitions, trips, and competitions.
9. Collaborate with other departments to integrate art into cross-curricular projects and school-wide initiatives.
10. Build strong relationships with students, encouraging their enthusiasm for art and helping them to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Requirements:
1. A degree in Art, Fine Art, Visual Arts, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent is essential.
3. Experience teaching Art at secondary school level (Key Stage 3 and 4). Experience with Key Stage 5 is desirable but not essential.
4. A passion for Art and creativity, with a strong knowledge of a wide range of artistic techniques, media, and styles.
5. Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
6. The ability to inspire students and create a positive, supportive classroom environment.
7. Strong commitment to your own professional development as a teacher.
8. Experience in managing and organising art-related extracurricular activities is desirable.
