When you join us, you'll be a part of this genuinely collaborative environment, where everyone's voice is valued and treated equally.
We're passionate about what we do, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. This is a great place to be. Ask us about our flexible and remote working policies designed to help you get the most out of life.
Tunnels and underground structures form an increasingly critical part of modern-day infrastructure. This infrastructure provides economic, societal and environmental benefits through the facilitation of efficient and rapid movement of people below-ground, in mass transit systems, high-speed rail lines, or highway tunnels.
We are expanding our team to meet growing demands from our extensive Client base, particularly in the infrastructure and energy sectors. Current areas of demand include nuclear new build, carbon capture & storage, renewable energy (hydropower), and other low carbon engineering.
Requirements:
1. Candidates should have the right flair and ability that will help us develop and expand our tunneling capability. We want to build on the existing portfolio of our rapidly expanding, flexible and outward looking team that can tackle work across a broad spectrum of sectors.
2. We are looking for enthusiastic chartered/senior engineers with a proven technical and project management track record.
3. Assisting the Tunneling team with strategic bids.
4. Developing your own network of business contacts to contribute to the growth of the Tunneling disciplines.
5. Integrating the team to our technical discipline and market leads.
6. Mentoring of early career team members.
Candidates should have:
1. A good academic background with a degree (ideally MSc or equivalent) with Chartered status in civil or structural engineering.
2. Excellent interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to develop and lead tunneling design teams.
3. Project management experience and understanding of the needs and approaches to the engineering consultancy and design markets, including relationships with clients, work planning and commercial management.
4. Proven tunneling design experience in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment and advanced constitutive soil models, along with experience of numerical modelling software (FLAC or PLAXIS). Use in relation to dynamic soil-structure interaction problems would be a benefit.
5. Proven experience using advanced structural analysis and experience of numerical modelling software (Robot or STAAD). Use in relation to BIM-integrated workflows to exchange data with Revit would be a benefit.
6. Application of CDM Regulations. Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients.
7. Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work. A willingness to travel on short assignments both within the UK and overseas.
Introducing the Team:
Our specialist Tunneling team works across a range of engineering disciplines and applies advanced analysis techniques, combined with practical design, operational and site experience. We provide support to Clients throughout the project life cycle, from the planning and feasibility stages through to commissioning, operation, refurbishment and upgrade of tunnel infrastructure. We are a close-knit specialist team, and we love what we do. We work hard to ensure an inclusive and mutually respectful environment which fosters collaboration and innovation.
