Field Service Engineer
Devonport
THALES are looking to recruit a passionate & driven Field Service Engineer to be responsible for the deployment, setting to work and in service support of Sonar and or Electronic Warfare Systems deployed on Royal Navy and export customers Ships / Submarines.

What will you deliver?
* Be responsible for the Health and Safety of all Thales activities carried out by you and comply with the following:
o Risk Assessments.
o COSHH Assessments.
o Safe systems of work.
o Be ultimately accountable for your own day-to-day welfare.
* Support to both Royal Navy and Export Platforms in Defect Rectification:
o Conduct and Supervise Front-line support including Fault diagnosis and testing as well as acceptance trials both in harbour and at sea.
o Provide On-Call telephone support to our customers (Once at a suitable level of knowledge).
o Write site visit reports.
* Support to both Royal Navy and Export Platforms Maintenance Periods / Refits:
o Conduct Pre-Upkeep Maintenance Assessment (PUMA) inspections.
o Conduct scheduled maintenance activities
o Conduct setting to work / commissioning activities to bring RN platforms out of refit
o Escalate engineering issues to the Field Services Manager or Service Delivery Manager as required.
o Write post maintenance reports.
* Weekly reports to the Service Delivery Manager Field Services Manager or Service Delivery Manager as required
o Activities undertaken.
o Upcoming activities.
o Successes, challenges, opportunities.
o Identify any support required from the project or department.
* Identification of your own personal and professional development.
* Compliance with all export control rules and regulations including International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
* You will also perform additional ad-hoc duties that will arise from time to time that are consistent with the nature of this position.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal successful candidate will have;
* A track record of performing in a relevant engineering discipline, preferably dealing with Complex Systems (Electrical, Electronic and Hydraulic).
* Someone who is willing to travel occasionally to meet the Royal Navy (less than 10%)
* You must be capable of fault finding, resolving issues and problems You will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels in the spoken and written word.
* Your experience will demonstrate your high level of self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure are vital.

This role will require SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant will undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance. Please visit the UKSV website for further guidance.
