Whats the Role? We are looking for a Trainee Shipping Agent to join our team based in Cardiff. Primarily, to learn and assist the agency team in the day-to-day ships agency operations local to Cardiff and to over time take on the full accountabilities of a Shipping Agent. A Shipping Agents role is exciting and varied, with no two days the same. One minute you can be supporting with crew changes and next booking pilots and tugs to ensure the safe berthing of the ship. Normal office hours are Monday Friday, 37.5 hours per week to be worked between 8.30-17.00 however, due to the nature of the role a high degree of flexibility is required to work weekends and evenings on a rota basis. Any out of hours working will be fully supported during an initial period of training. Some of the key aspects of the role you will be trained in include: Customs documentation (report / clearing the vessel) Boarding vessels Assist vessel Master with day/day requirements doctors, dentists, provisions etc. Contact with port authority for berthing schedule Stevedores daily updates discharge/loading prospects Planning time to ensure the highest level of service to vessels/customers About you the good to haves A genuine interest in pursuing a career in the Shipping industry The ability to learn quickly, ask questions and get involved A high degree of flexibility and willingness to work weekends and evenings on a rota basis.
